Citi Rewards vs Citi Cash Back

Citi Rewards Card offers points for eligible transactions, which can be used to redeem a wide range of things while Citi Cash Back offers rebate to cardholders. With Citi Rewards, cardholders can enjoy 5X rewards on contactless transactions with no spending categories limitation. Citi Cash Back offers 2% rebate but only on dining in restaurants and hotels. They are both lower-tier credit cards with an annual income requirement of HK$120,000.

Citi Rewards Card vs Citi PremierMiles Card

Citi Rewards is best for everyday shoppers whereas Citi PremierMiles Card is a must-have for frequent travellers. With points earned, cardholders of Citi PremierMiles Card can redeem for air miles for 12 preferential mileage programs, including Asia Miles, Avios, KrisFlyer.

With Citi Rewards, the points you earn will never expire. It can be used to redeem designated cash coupons, movie tickets, and air miles at Citi ThankYou Rewards online or it can be used to instantly offset spending anytime with Citi Pay with Points.

Citi Rewards Card VS Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card

Citi Rewards offers up to 2% rebate on local spend whereas Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card offers only 1.5%. With that said, Citi Rewards 2% cash rebate is only applicable to eligible contactless payment excluding Octopus AAVS and overseas spend but the rebate on Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card applies to a lot more spend with online shopping and Octopus AAVS included. It also offers up to 2% on overseas spend with no cap. The minimum annual salary is only HK$96,000 which is slightly lower than Citi Rewards. It also offers an annual fee waiver for designated Standard Chartered account holders.

Citi Rewards Card vs EarnMORE Card

Similar to Citi Rewards Card, EarnMORE Union Pay offers up to 2% cash rebate. It doesn’t only apply to designated shops and even retail spending, Octopus AAVS and digital wallet are included. EarnMORE Union Pay doesn’t have a minimum annual salary requirement. Even university students are eligible to apply.

Citi Rewards “Ineligible Transactions”

Citi Rewards “Ineligible Transactions” include: 1. Cash advances, fees and charges, withdrawal amount under the Balance Transfer Program, Cash Conversion Program and Quick Cash Installment Program, “FlexiBill” Installment Program and “PayLite” Installment Program payment to the Inland Revenue Department, casino transactions, online bill payment, transactions through Faster Payment System (FPS) Service, "Dynamic Currency Conversion transactions", i.e. transactions with conversion from a foreign currency into Hong Kong Dollars involved at the point of the transaction, or unposted /cancelled /refunded transactions.

2. For Citibank Credit Card accounts denominated in CNY, invalid transactions incurred in Mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) not eligible for Points include, but are not limited to, properties, automobile, wholesales, air tickets, fuel, supermarkets, hospitals and schools, and other charges designated by Citibank from time to time.
