UnionPay exchange rates for currencies like CNY and HKD are good. For cards that are in Hong Kong dollars (HKD), the current exchange rate is 1000CNY = HK$1,072.65as of 24th February 2025. In comparison, Visa’s rate is 1000CNY = HK$1,094, while MasterCard’s rate is 1000CNY = HK$1,073.60. Although the foreign exchange rate of UnionPay is usually worse than Visa and Mastercard, UnionPay does not require overseas transaction fee while Visa and Mastercard charge 2% for every transaction.
