American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card v.s. American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card

American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card and American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card are American Express individual credit cards co-branded with Cathay Pacific Airways. Both credit cards offer a host of travel-related privileges such as airport lounge access, complimentary travel insurance and a complimentary Green Tier membership of The Marco Polo Club. The cards also offer you unlimited supplementary cards with the first and second cards for free, 24/7 customer service and online account access. While both American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card and American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card require the cardholder to be 18 years or older Hong Kong or Macau resident/citizen with an Asia Miles membership account, the American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card has a minimum annual income requirement of HK$300,000. The reward points earned by each credit card also has a slight difference. You will get one Asia Mile for every HK$6 local spend and 1.5 Asia Miles for every foreign currency spend the equivalent of HK$6 with American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card while you will only get one Asia Mile for every HK$8 local spend and 1.5 Asia Miles for every foreign currency spend the equivalent of HK$8 with American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card. If you an American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card and American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card holder with a Marco Polo Club Silver Tier or above membership, you can enjoy 3-day priority redemption for selected discount flight awards booking.

The Marco Polo membership is the loyalty programme offered by Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon. Customers who join the Marco Polo Club members can enjoy a host of privileges including priority booking and boarding, check-in, baggage allowance, lounge access, etc. There are four tiers of memberships in Marco Polo Club - Green, Siler, Gold and Diamond, each comes with its unique range of privileges and benefits. The American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Cards give you a complimentary enrollment into the Green membership of The Marco Polo Club. In order to apply for the American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Cards and become a member of the Marco Polo Club, you have to be a Hong Kong or Macau resident /citizen aged 18 or over, an Asia Miles member and meets the minimum annual income requirement for the credit card. The Green tier members have access to designated Marco Polo Club counters available at Hong Kong International Airport and selected airports worldwide and can enjoy priority boarding. They may also use their Asia Miles to redeem extra seats with extra legroom or extra baggage. Like all other Marco Polo membership tiers, the Green Tier membership lasts 12 months from your enrollment date. You can earn club points when you fly Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon or any of the Oneworld airlines and upgrade to the higher membership tiers once you accrue enough club points to enter the next tier threshold.

American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Cards cardholders are required to spend HK$150,000 a year to enjoy an annual fee waiver. If the cardmember has upgraded to the Silver tier or above of the Marco Polo Club membership before the renewal, the annual fee waiver will also be applied for the next year.
